Louisville Montessori School, Inc. (formerly Louisville Montessori School & Daycare Center, Inc.) was founded in 1983 by a Montessori teacher and a group who were interested in creating a quality preschool and child care center serving Louisville and the surrounding communities.  It is a non-sectarian, non-discriminatory school, governed by a Board of Directors, and offering programs for children 3 to 6 years of age in our preschool and kindergarten classrooms.  Louisville Montessori School is affiliated with the American Montessori Society and is licensed by the Colorado Department of Social Services.  We admit children of any race, color, ethnic origin, nationality, religion, or disability, who would benefit from the school's programs and activities.

Our Mission

The mission of Louisville Montessori School, Inc. is to provide families with a Montessori preschool and kindergarten programs for children ages 3 to 6.  Certified Montessori teachers and other qualified staff prepare the environment and guide children to fulfill their potential: cognitively, emotionally, socially, physically and spiritually.  We will assist each child to develop respect for themselves, others and their environments and build a foundation for a lifetime of creative learning. 

• The goal of the Montessori approach is to help the child acquire the independence, confidence and motivation needed to fulfill his or her own potential.
• The focus of the Montessori Method is the self development of the whole child.  The Montessori teacher will observe, guide, and plan lessons according to the needs of the children in the classroom.
• The attractive, developmentally appropriate, prepared Montessori classroom environment and materials stimulate the child’s curiosity to make choices according to their own interests and to learn at their own pace.
• The school’s staff and our routines will provide the necessary guidelines and ground rules for the child to move freely in the environment, to make choices, to solve problems, to develop respect for ones self, others and the learning environment thus laying the foundation for a lifetime of creative learning.  

KEY CONCEPTS OF A MONTESSORI EDUCATION:
